Tomcat Tomcat (scientific name : Paederus littoralis ) is one of the organisms from the kingdom Animalia. Its scientific classification is Kingdom Animalia, Phylum Arthropoda, Class Insecta, Order Coleoptera, Family Staphylinidae, Genus Paederus, and Species Paederus littoralis. It's considered as an animal because it is eukaryotic, multicellular, and heterotrophic, an arthropod because it has jointed feet, segmented body, and an exoskeleton. Finally, it's considered as an insect because it has three pairs of feet, in total 6 feet. Tomcat has a short life cycle. It's only less than 19 days with 4 days egg phase, 9 days larva phase, 1 day pre-pupa phase, 4 days pupa phase, and then imago phase where the adult tomcat lay eggs.
